moving to blogger
I decided to switch my blog from Tumblr to Blogger. Tumblr is a great tool, but I decided it’s best for posting cool photos rather than original content. I’ll still have my Tumblr (missioncloset.tumblr.com) but missioncloset.com will now take you to Blogger. Tumblr will become my inspiration board. I haven’t figured out how to transfer the old comments, but perhaps...

Spring 11 trends by missioncloset featuring drape neck tops
I know it’s still a few months out, but I’m getting pretty excited for Spring trends. The return of color makes me want to sort my closet like the rainbow and I love the long 70s looks that graced the runways. These are just a few trends I’m into for the season. I’ll certainly be going into more detail as we get...
byer too!
Has anyone else happened upon the brand Byer Too! while thrifting? I see the tag a lot, especially on dresses. I found this Byer Too! dress at Painted Bird. I’ve often wondered about the brand. Most of the dresses seem to be 70s-80s styles. I imagined it to be the Charter Club or BP of an obsolete department store like Emporium Capwell (does anyone else remember the mini amusement park on...

open your golden gate
One of the lights in my normal “shooting location” is broken so I decided to stand near our Golden Gate Bridge print by Ben Barry. It’s especially fitting because I’m wearing clothes by local designers. The dress is by She Bible. It’s a style in their “Classic Dress” line in a dark plum color. The fabric is super soft organic cotton and it’s really...

chinchilly
Guys, I totally forgot about Musthave Monday yesterday. The Golden Globes distracted me. I promise it will resume next week! Today’s post isn’t about my outfit, but I’ll show it to you anyway. Today’s post is about the manicure I got over the weekend with Caroline before she went back to school. I go to Amazing Nails on Guerrero at 22nd. It’s a great little place if...

golden globes: my top 3
I was thrilled to see all the color and texture at last night’s Golden Globes. The departure from boring black and poofy silhouettes was so refreshing. Here are my top 3 favorite dresses of the evening.
Anne Hathaway looked dazzling in Armani Prive. The pinky, rose gold color was dark enough so it didn’t wash her out and the plunging back was so sexy. I also loved her hair in the...

menswear: ben minkoff
Many of you already know of my love for Rebecca Minkoff handbags, but today I’m excited to see her new line for men, Ben Minkoff. The Nicky Messenger above is an example of one of the more rugged pieces in the collection but Minkoff also uses buttery leathers and cool plaids. Check out the website for more bags, wallets, and totes.

motherly love
I wore this last night to part 1 of the San Francisco Fashion Feud, a live Project Runway-like competition at the Rickshaw Stop. Adelle of The Fashionista Lab told me about it and we went together. It was a really cool event and I’ll be posting photos tomorrow. Today I want to give a shout-out to my lovely mother who bought me this Kate Spade bag for Christmas. We went to a sale event at...

cable carr
I spotted this Gap sweater while researching clothes for the Ateqah’s winter wardrobe series. I’ve found it to be a good way to wear the chunky knit trend in a non-bulky way. It’s been really chilly in San Francisco lately and I have to wear a sweater or jacket around the office most days. This cable knit number kept me nice and cozy.

musthave monday: rose gold
Rose Gold by missioncloset featuring stamped jewelry
I’m going to start featuring a “musthave” every Monday—a trend I’m loving that would be a good addition to any gal’s wardrobe. Today’s musthave was inspired by last week’s DIY necklace project. Rose gold is popping up everywhere, not just on jewelry . While only certain skin tones could pull off...

smudges on the mirror
Please excuse the “spots” on my jacket. They’re actually just smudges on my mirror that I was too lazy to clean today. Here’s my Aritzia blazer again, this time dressed down. It was one of those rare days I felt compelled to wear mostly black. But my bracelet is slate blue. It was a Christmas present from Dana, the fabulous gift-giver, and I love it. She has a similar one...

diy rose gold necklace
Erica Domesek, of PS-I Made This, never ceases to inspire me. I saw this rose gold necklace project on her blog last week and it looked too cute and easy to ignore.
I bought the copper pipe fittings at my local hardware store. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized price tags had darkened the color of the metal. A little Goo Gone helped get rid of the stickers, and the discoloration...

diptyque
I’ve been meaning to tell you guys about a great scent I found while in France last June. It’s called Philosykos by Diptyque, a Parisian company with a shop on Maiden Lane (or online if you’re not in San Francisco). They’re famous for their candles but I discovered that I really like their perfume line. I’d never smelled anything like Philosykos. It’s a...

how michael kors won me over
I’m not sure why, but I’ve never been that into Michael Kors. Some of his shoes and bags have caught my eye in the past, but nothing fabulous enough to make me pull out the credit card. And then I saw a friend wearing this watch last summer. The tortoise shell band is unique yet timeless and the crystals on the face give it the perfect glam touch. I thought about it for months and...
denim and lace
Today I’m lucky to have the day off so I’m breaking out my lace skirt from Target, which isn’t quite work appropriate. This was another remixer-inspired purchase. I bought it just before the 30 for 30, after seeing a few bloggers add it to their remix. Olive green is not very prevalent in my closet and I’d like to wear it more. Perhaps that will be one of my 2011...

to 2011
Happy New Year! Hope you had a great holiday weekend. Here’s what I wore out on NYE, a rainy night in San Francisco. I just got the slouchy blazer at Aritzia’s winter sale and the dress is from a great boutique in New York called Mint on the Upper West Side.
Our tree is not quite as impressive as my parents, but I’m still sad to be taking it out to the curb tomorrow.
